Wichita State University

Wichita State University has a long history as one of the state’s premier colleges. Originally founded as Fairmont College in 1895, the city of Wichita bought the school in 1926 but it wasn’t until July 1, 1964 that the school became recognized as an official Kansas State College and at that time, its name changed to Wichita State University.
